SUMMARY:11/12/2023 台灣大學GMBA籃球賽 羽球賽 NTU GMBA Clash Of the Classes Basketball and Badminton Tournament Co-Hosted by SC Masaru Chiawei and AA Edward 王德鼎
DESCRIPTION:2023 GMBA “Clash of the Classes” \nOn the chilly evening of November 12th\, the GMBA’s basketball tournament\, “Clash of the Classes” once again unfolded its narrative. Originally featuring four teams however\, due to last-minute injuries and class delays\, consolidation happened the four teams into three formidable teams— Team Greg\, Team Tony\, and Team Ian \, as GTI tournament AKA very fast pace tournament. \nThe format of tournament ensured every player’s involvement. Each team played against the other two teams then\, with the elimination team’s breakup allowing the top-performing team to make the first pick\, guaranteeing each participant three games. \nThe tournament kicked off as Team G\, led by Greg\, faced Team I\, helmed by Ian\, in an intense match. First game ended with a 29:35 score\, where Team I won. The second game was Team I against Team T\, such a neck-and-neck competition\, ending 33:39 score\, won by Team T. The next playoff was Team G and Team T\, another intensive game\, where Team T exhibited unwavering determination\, securing another victory by 45:51 scores. \nWith team G facing two defeats\, team I securing a win against Team G but stumbling against Team T\, and Tony’s team triumphing in both matches. The final stage was set for a championship showdown between Teams T and I. As Team T won two games\, they picked the player from Team G first and then Team I picked as the second in sequence order\, so that everyone had a chance to play three games. The chilling weather mirrored the competition’s intensity as Team T emerged victorious with a resounding 68 against 43\, claiming the championship. \nThe event unfolded professionally and successfully with the support of the referees and assistants. We also would like to express our appreciation to our Student Council team for organizing such an amazing event. This tournament once again demonstrated that beyond the scoresheet\, sports embody teamwork\, resilience\, sportsmanship\, and friendships. This unique blend made the event more than a series of games\, it became a celebration of resilience and teamwork in the face of unexpected challenges. Moreover\, this year\, in collaboration with the GMBA Student Council\, we broadened further by including the badminton tournament. The enthusiastic response from students signals a promising future for GMBA sporting events\, aiming to strengthen connections among students and alumni.\nWith this\, we are excitedly anticipating the 2024 GMBA sports day. (Script: Scarlett R11) \nSpecial Thanks to our sponsors of this event TGI Fridays & Texas Roadhouse for kindly providing gift certificates to their restaurants for the winner of our sports.  Also Special thanks to Masaru (GMBA Badminton Ambassador)\, Chiawei (GMBA Student Council President)\, along with Edward Wang 王德鼎 (GMBA Alumni Association President/ GMBA Basketball Coordinator) and most importantly\, THANK YOU to all those showed support by participating in our GMBA Clash of the Classes Sporting Tournaments.  Additionally\, HUGE thanks to Professor Edward Hsieh for kindly attending our events consecutively awarding our winners with their metals and trophies. \nFurthermore\, thanks to our GMBA Team: Yuta & Piggy for their kind assistance: here are some of the photos from Sports tournament last night: \nhttps://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1P1b-ktJu3rB7e3UEiUGQCZjXiBFALlRL?usp=sharing \nFor those who are interested in reviewing ur personal highlights or Shaqinafool moments all games were recorded per following links: \n \n \n \n \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:2022-12-17~18 NTU EMBA Presidential Cup Basketball Tournament (REVIEW)
DESCRIPTION:NTU EMBA Presidential Cup Basketball Tournament \nLast weekend was such a proud weekend for our GMBA program! \nIt was a frigid winter weekend at NTU Medical Sports Stadium\, and the event\, “NTU EMBA Presidential Cup Basketball Tournament” was held. The event was two days\, 17-18 Dec 2022. Our GMBA basketball team was invited to participate in this event. So our team which comprised a varied collection of excellent athletes was adamant about bringing home the trophy and claiming victory for the program. \nThe event started at 9:00 am. The players from different teams can be found warming up for the competition. There are ten teams in total and two groups of five teams have to play against in the first day to enter Semifinal. \nOur first competition started at 10:40 against Lánshè Team. The excitement was apparent as the players headed to the pitch. The crowd\, which was packed with delighted friends and family members\, cheered on the squad as they faced their opponents. The team made a nice lead since the first quarter and won the game with a 25:21 score. Then the opening ceremony started with a charming cheerleading dance. Later\, the honorable guests\, Guo Rui Xiang\, the Director of the College of Management\, the alumni Su Zhe Sheng\, the Student Council President\, Lai\, and CEO Liu\, made the speech. \nNot long after that\, the second game competing against with Team 105 started at 2 pm. That was also an intense game but we were able to lead each quarter with a very close mark gap. However\, we again won the game at 30:16. Our third competition began at 3:40 pm. Here\, our players did a very nice job by making scores each quarter and won with 30:23 scores to Team 108. The last game of the day was at 5:20 pm which was against Team Tái dàn yǒngshì. Our athletes ended the first day with four consecutive winnings straight with 41:17 again and made it into the semifinal. \nThe second day began at 9:00 am on Sunday. Our Semifinal game was fast-paced and fierce\, with both sides fighting hard. The players worked intensely to get a high mark. But we advanced to finals\, beating Team 111 Rators by 41:17. After that\, we had a fun three-point shooting game. \nThe final game was at 3:30. The score was neck and neck as the time ran out. With barely minutes remaining in the game\, the team had the ball and was attempting to seal the victory. Unfortunately\, we lost to the EMBA 76ers 27 to 30 in the finals end up 2nd place in the tournament. \nIn the following awarding ceremony\, all players received their respective individual medals and a team trophy for the first runner-up. Also\, one of our players\, Rob\, received the “Rebound King” prize with 55 rebounds. After that\, all the teams took group pictures together. Thanks to every participant with a sporting spirit\, the event ended professionally and successfully. We once thanked NTU EMBA again for inviting us to participate in the event. Also\, thanks to GMBA Alumni Association\, led by president Edward Wang for partially sponsoring this event. We appreciate the GMBA office for the assistantship\, the cheering team\, and Professor Audrey for the support. The team felt they had done something remarkable as they reflected on their winter sports season\, and they left the competition with a sense of pride and success that they would take with them for years to come. \nIf we have the opportunity\, we would like to participate again in the tournament next year. \n \n \n  \nMore events photos here: \nhttps://drive.google.com/drive/folders/11LGEeZs6RGg6fZvhgdi5PKXiOFV-vjhU \nGame Videos Below: \n \n \n \n \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:11/27/2022 Dcard Company visit
DESCRIPTION:Loved by Gen Z\, Dcard is the largest anonymous communication platform in Taiwan\, to chat on current political affairs\, love\, food & drinking\, entertainment\, study and work\, etc. On a sunny Sunday afternoon in late November GMBA Student Council held the last event of the year in collaboration with this famous Taiwanese startup. Special thanks to R10 Peter Chang\, who pulled the resources and introduced Kytu\, the CEO\, giving GMBA students the chance to get to know more about Dcard. \n \nGiven a small tour of the office\, one could only be surprised by the open and light space\, equipped with a snackbar 7/11 could only dream of (free of charge!)\, a regularly updated bookshelf and conference rooms called after the Dcard forums like ‘Disaster room’ and ‘Make up’ room. Entering the office taking shoes off and wearing slippers is a must\, which only adds to the coziness one feels when entering.\n \nHowever\, when Kytu started his keynote\, one couldn’t be any further from feeling sleepy and lazy as the impressive founding and expansion of Dcard was laid out before our eyes. \nDcard started as a small side project i  n Kytu’s undergrad days in 2014 to the 400 employees start-up it is today. In 2022\, Dcard was listed as the third most attractive employer in Taiwan\, right after Google and Apple and even before the Taiwanese industry giant TSMC. Kytu does not tie this success back to any benefits like more than average days of vacation or competitive salary\, but for employees to be able to grow and learn with Dcard.  \nDcard in numbers: more than 95% of Dcard users are within the age range of 18 to 24 with 2.5M of daily active users. Comparing this to Instagram\, which has 9.6M daily active users in Taiwan mostly in the age range of 25 to 34\, it is impressive to see how a local app can find its unique stance in the mostly internationally dominated Social Media space.  \nKytu started Dcard with the ultimate goal to improve his own skills and living situation. After eating instant noodles for the first months of his studies\, he realized he needed to find a source of income. He started to learn programming\, digital design\, taking small jobs on the side. During the weekends he would start coding Dcard with a few of his classmates\, soon outgrowing the dorm and turning it into his full time job after graduation.  \nHe found himself in the challenging position of hiring the right people to be in his team\, calling himself a ‘newbie CEO’. Through failure and ‘blood and tears’ he learned that a great team consists of passion\, diversity and shared goals. He introduced OKRs to the team – objectives & key results\, which was first met with great skepticism\, but ultimately leading his company to the point where it is today. It helped him to set challenging\, ambitious goals with measurable results\, allowing him to track progress\, create alignment\, and encourage engagement around measurable goals within the young company. \nKytu’s future vision for Dcard is to expand into other markets\, add new services and tab into new age groups.\n \nThank you for giving us a glimpse into Dcard. We are excited for more collaborations in the future!  \n \nhttps://gmbantu.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/692084859.121626.mp4\n  \nWritten by GMBA student Elisabeth Kreitschmann

SUMMARY:11/26/2022 NTU GMBA “Clash of the Classes” Basketball Tournament REVIEW
DESCRIPTION:2022 GMBA Basketball Tournament “Clash of the Classes” REVIEW \nAuthor\, written by: R11\, Scarlett \n  \nLast Saturday\, 26th of November 2022\, we once again welcomed the GMBA’s basketball tournament\, “Clash of the Classes”\, at Da’an Sports Center brought to you by GMBA Alumni Association. This year we also invited NTU EMBA and NCCU IMBA basketball teams so even before the tournament had started\, the audience could sense the strong competitive atmosphere between the four teams. The format of this tournament was straightforward: A total of 4 teams\, Tai-pan VS NTU EMBA\, and Slam Dork VS NCCU IMBA\, compete against each other to determine the top two and bottom two teams. Then these parings would then form the playoffs for the final match to determine which team would bring the first prize home. \nThe event started with the players’ entry announcement from each team with loud applause from the audience. Later\, Edward Wang\, President of the GMBA Alumni Association and main organizer of this event made a short speech. He also made thank you speech to our event sponsors: TGI Fridays\, Texas Roadhouse\, and XXL Basketball Magazine\, and welcomed the guest teams. The first game started shortly after the speech. The two teams competing at the first game were Tai-pan and NTU EMBA. EMBA team led the game in the first quarter\, and the Tai-pan team followed up later. The game ended with a 30:21 score\, and EMBA won the first game. The second game was Slam-Dork VS NUUC IMBA. For this game\, Slam-Dork was leading first\, but NUUC turned the table around and won against the Slam-Dork by 38:27. The playoff for Bronze came after which was Tai-pan VS Slam Dork. The players played intensely although they were tired from the first game. This time Slam Dork won Tai-pan with 40:33. The remaining two teams gave all their best to compete for the first prize\, and the game ended with a very small margin: 33:38\, which the NCCU team won. The final result was as follows: 1st: NCCU IMBA\, 2nd: NTU EMBA\, 3rd: Slam Dork\, 4th: Tai-pan. \nIn the following awarding ceremony\, all players received their respective individual medals and a team trophy. The winning team furthermore received 3000 NTD worth of gift vouchers from TGI Fridays\, and the second place received 2\,000 NTD gift vouchers from Texas Roadhouse. The special award for the “GMBA Most Valuable Player” was given to Allen Lee of the Slam Dork\, who had shown several strong plays and got scores throughout the competition. The event came to the end with the speech of Professor Edward Hsieh and with awardees and players taking photos together. \nThe event started and ended professionally and successfully with the support of the referees and assistants. We got female and senior citizen players in each team however the intensity and competition were not any less. That was a very inspiring and fun yet competitive event. We once again thank all the sponsors\, participants\, and staff for making this event happen. Also\, we really appreciate the GMBA office for the assistantance and Director Audrey Hsu for supporting the event. Last but not least\, thanks to Professor Louis Chen for being our basketball team counselor and Professor Edward Hsieh for kindly staying till the end to award our winning teams their medals and trophies. \nWe are looking forward to the NTU Presidential Basketball Cup on December 17-18 in which team GMBA united forces to represent our program for the first time against Ten elite NTU basketball teams. \nFor video/ photos\, please check with the following link (HD photo in “camera” folder):\nhttps://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-6eQuF8je2Mjc0r6TLmkKrr10bJtuWBd \n  \n  \n                                                                           \n                                                                                                                                                                                    \nHere are the videos first For recordings of 11/26 tournament to recapture your awesome moments: \nhttps://youtu.be/8h70dsmkd5Y \nhttps://youtu.be/z8nv9Dhx3Uc \nhttps://youtu.be/nrWGyKkOYPg \nhttps://youtu.be/BXOI5VwQcQY \nhttps://youtu.be/NOezHbw8pW8
