Dear Wharton friends,

We would like to introduce you to the new Wharton Club of the National Capital Region (WCNCR) and to invite you to join us as a member.

Who are we?

The Wharton Club of the National Capital Region is an alumni-run non-profit club that is supported and endorsed by the Wharton School and the University of Pennsylvania. Our objective is to serve the interests of the region’s considerable alumni population (over 4,000 undergraduate and graduate alumni) by leveraging the School’s significant resources and by embracing its standards for club governance and relations.

What is our mission?

The Wharton Club of the National Capital Region is an exemplary, transparent representative of Wharton values, helping our members to become pillars of the community and to prosper both personally and professionally by providing an environment that:

  • Promotes a trusted, inclusive, diverse community 
  • Celebrates the spirit of innovation, analytics, and entrepreneurship in business for which Wharton is known
  • Encourages education and lifelong learning, leveraging our proximity to and relationship with the School
  • Provides varied programming and events that focus on career enrichment, business outreach, social philanthropic and mentoring activities

What is our tax status as a non-profit?

The IRS has determined that the Wharton Club of the National Capital Region (WCNCR) is exempt from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 501(c) (3).

Donors can deduct contributions made to the WCNCR under IRC Section 170.  WCNCR is qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Section 2055, 2106, or 2522.

WCNCR is exempt under IRC Section 501(c) (3) and is further classified as a private foundation within the meaning of Section 509(a).

Our calendar is full of events and activities. Your support and participation will help us build, grow, and sustain our club.

We also welcome suggestions regarding events and venues, special interests and programming, and other ideas to help shape the new club.
